Our short route is a pleasant loop around Ingleborough to the Ribblehead viaduct, continuing up towards Newby Head before descending to Dentdale for refreshments. The sting in the tail is the challenging climb out of the valley up Deepdale before a gentle roll back to Escape bike Shop along beautiful Kingsdale.

Leaving Escape Bike Shop we begin briefly on the A65 turning up Westgate Lane to clear the main road and make our way towards Ingeton village with it’s famous waterfalls and caves.

Leaving the village on Clapham Old Road we enjoy some quiet miles with views towards the south and Keasden moor. Meandering through Clapham we pick up the back roads through the villages of Austwick and Wharfe before heading to Horton-in-Ribblesdale as we begin gaining height towards the Ribblehead Viaduct.

A clear day will reward us with views a-plenty, the Ribblesdale valley, Pen-y-ghent and as we near the viaduct, Whernside makes a lovely backdrop to the viaduct itself.

We continue climbing steadily towards Newby Head before a short, sharp descent and a scenic roll down to the pretty village of Dent for the refreshment stop.

Once suitably fed and watered a short back-track takes us to the Deepdale Lane turning and a challenging climb back towards Ingleton. Don’t be afraid to walk here – many do! But if you make it you’ll be elated as you cruise back along the peaceful and remote feeling Kingsdale as you make your way back to the shop and the finish.
